Welcome to Catherine Wittman Unit

Who We Are

by clicking here. The Catherine Wittman Unit is named for its long-standing member, Ms. Catherine I. “Kay” Wittman (PRP) of New Florence, Missouri. Kay became a member of the National Association of Parliamentarians in 1967 as a member of the Sartwell Unit. She was the 6th President of the District of Columbia Association of Parliamentarians (DCAP) from 1977 to 1979. In 1977, a number of DCAP members in Northern Virginia decided to form a Unit, they named their new Unit in honor of Kay. She was a member of both the NAP and the American Institute of Parliamentarians for 47 years.

The Catherine Wittman Unit is a part of District 2 of the Virginia State Association of Parliamentarians (VSAP) and the National Association of Parliamentarians (NAP) , established for the purpose of the education, study, promotion, and dissemination of the philosophy and principles underlying Robert's Rules of Order and the rules of parliamentary procedure, for the betterment of deliberative assemblies. We are based in Alexandria, Virginia.  As a non-profit organization under IRS Code Section 501(c)(3), we strive to educate at little to no cost to members or recipients.

The Catherine Wittman Unit is an electronic unit where its members meet virtually each month (except for December, February, July, and August). Meetings are conducted on the 4th Wednesday of the month at 6:45 p.m. (ET).
